This article features key data and information from the Economic Impact of Recreational Boating in Canada: 2006 Summary Report, released by NMMA Canada. The report was funded through Discover Boating Canada and was introduced to the boating industry at the Toronto International Boat Show in January 2008.

The data was gathered through 2006 and these are the newest statistics possible.

In their report, the authors portray the big picture of recreational boating as representing $15.6 billion in expenses expenditures by recreational boaters in 2006 which as it washed through the Canadian economy, resulted in more than 373,000 jobs, more than $17.5 billion in wages and salaries, sales and excise taxes paid to various levels of government of more than $3.3 billion and overall economic activity totaling $26.8 billion.
